Social media is revolutionizing how businesses communicate with the marketplace. This shift is at least as big a change as when Gutenberg invented his printing press.
That time it took nearly 500 years for business to realize the full potential of the printing revolution in business communication. From the 1400′s until the industrial revolution, well over 300 years, Gutenberg’s press barely changed at all. Then mechanization increased printing outputs and when rolled paper came around printing production really took off.
There’s Still Time
My point is this. Embracing a revolution of this magnitude can take time.
I believe the social media revolution will is changing business communication much faster than the printing press did. My guess is we’ll be able to realize the potential of social media in closer to 50 years, not 500.
Regardless the revolution is just getting started. It’s not too late to get on board!
